The Trump administration is ratcheting up to $50 million the reward for the arrest of Nicolas Maduro, Venezuela’s president.
U.S. authorities are accusing Maduro of being one of the globe’s biggest drug dealers, allegedly working hand-in-hand with cartels that deluge America with lurid drugs like fentanyl-laced cocaine, according to Newsmax.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, Maduro will not escape justice and he will be held accountable for his despicable crimes,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said Thursday in a video announcing the reward.

Originally, the Venezuelan president was first indicted in 2020 in a court in Manhattan, during President Donald Trump’s first term. He was charged, along with some of his allies, with narco-terrorism and a conspiracy to import cocaine.
The first Trump administration offered a $15 million reward for Maduro’s arrest. The offer was later raised to $25 million by the Biden administration.
Several countries from the European Union and Latin America denounced Maduro’s reelection in 2024 as a charade. They recognized his political rival as the rightful winner of the presidential elections.
According to Newsmax, Trump officials reached an agreement to obtain the release of 10 Americans jailed in Caracas in exchange for Venezuela getting home scores of migrants deported by the United States to El Salvador. Shortly after, the White House reversed course and allowed U.S. oil producer Chevron to resume drilling in Venezuela after it was previously blocked by U.S. sanctions.
