Determined to crush criminality nationwide, especially in the urban areas, President Donald Trump is joining forces with congressional Republican lawmakers in creating a “comprehensive crime bill,” once-in-a-generation lawmaking.
Trump’s move, according to The Washington Times, will manage to put his well-liked crime-fighting plan in front of voters right in time for the midterm elections next year.
The President said, according to The Times on social media, that he is working with Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune on the legislation, which is still taking shape. He said it is “what our country needs.”
Trump has fashioned himself as the ultimate crimefighter, sending troops to Washington D.C. and Los Angeles to aid local law enforcement curb a growing wave of violence. In addition, he has spearheaded the way for ICE and Border Patrol in arresting illegal immigrants.
The byproduct of cracking down on crime, Trump believes, will be helping Republicans during the 2026 midterms and 2028 presidential elections. The Times reported that the goal is to isolate Democratic candidates from their big metro voters, many who are shell-shocked by urban brutality.
“We’re going to pass a bill to stop crime. We may not get one Democrat vote, OK?” Mr. Trump said at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday. “The Republicans are the party that wants to stop crime. We’re against crime. The Democrats like crime. I don’t know why. I think it’s going to be a big, big subject for the midterms and I think the Republicans are going to do really well.”
