Social media was blazing with criticism for the NFL choosing the Puerto Rican singer for the big game.

One of the biggest Latino acts is scheduled to perform in the next halftime Super Bowl show—some decry his overt political progressive leanings as woke.
Currently the National Football League is facing harsh disapproval for scheduling artist Bad Bunny to perform at the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show. Bunny, who is originally from Puerto Rico, has scathingly blasted Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers for the recent raids happening throughout the country since President Donald Trump started his second term.
Bunny, who is a rapper and three-time Grammy winner, has called ICE agents “motherf***ers” and “sons of bitches” in a video he posted to Instagram in June, according to The Daily Wire.
Bunny, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, has said that he has refused to tour his concerts in the U.S. because he is leery that ICE officers can target his concertgoers.
This is Bad Bunny.

He was just announced as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.
– Massive Trump hater
– Anti-ICE activist
– No songs in English
He even canceled his entire U.S. tour for this reason: “F***ing ICE could be outside my concert. And it’s something that we were… pic.twitter.com/11KvuSWnEH
“…There was the issue of — like, f***ing ICE could be outside (my concert). And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” Bunny said.
Bunny’s upcoming NFL show is being taken as a political statement because Ocasio has been blunt in his political views. He endorsed Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election.
Bunny also adopts the blurring of gender roles. “What defines a man, what defines being masculine, what defines being feminine?” he said in a 2022 interview with GQ. “To me, a dress is a dress.” The Left celebrates the singer for wearing makeup and dresses as a way to protest against traditional masculinity.
Regarding the upcoming gig at the Super Bowl, Bunny said: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history.”
According to The Wire, Roc Nation will create the show along with Apple Music. Company chairman Jay-Z said in a statement, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
