On Sunday Sept. 7th, Diane Montagna, journalist in Rome, published on X that Cardinal Raymond Burke will celebrate a Pontifical High Mass in the Old Rite in St. Peter’s Basilica during the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage in Rome this October 24–26. The Mass will be offered at the Altar of the Chair on Saturday, October 25.
She made reference to the official source, blog Messa In Latino that published first this headline on its website:
Una grande notizia: il card. Burke celebrerà la Santa Messa in San Pietro del prossimo Pellegrinaggio Summorum Pontificum!
Great news: Cardinal Burke will celebrate Holy Mass in St. Peter’s during the next Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage!
“Following the good news announced a few days ago regarding the celebration of Pontifical Vespers by Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, an extraordinary announcement has been made officially by Christian Marquant, President of the Coetus internationalis Summorum Pontificum, regarding the 14th Peregrinatio ad Petri Sedem, which will take place in Rome and the Vatican City from October 24 to 26: Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Patron Emeritus of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, will celebrate Pontifical Holy Mass at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter on Saturday, October 25!
This is wonderful news that fills our hearts with joy, because, as you know, for three years the celebration of Holy Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican has been denied: the last Holy Mass (solemn, but not pontifical) was celebrated on the occasion of the 2022 pilgrimage, then in 2023 the Sext Office was recited, and last year there was Eucharistic adoration.”
Great News! It has been announced that Cardinal Burke will celebrate a Pontifical High Mass in the Traditional Rite in St. Peter’s Basilica during the Summorum Pontificum Pilgrimage in Rome on Saturday October 25. https://t.co/QcYyqdtYIO
