The illegal migrant who was killed by an ICE agent after the man struck him with a car was in the United States because the Biden administration refused to deport him despite a past arrest, according to federal authorities.

According to The Daily Wire, the Biden administration gave Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez reprieve in spite of his 2013 arrest by the Chicago Police Department for reckless driving, assault, speeding, and lacking a license and insurance, the sources said.

On Friday, Villegas-Gonzalez, who had received a deportation waiver under the Biden administration, hit the ICE officer with his vehicle while the feds were performing an operation at Franklin Park.

Villegas-Gonzalez was told to stop his vehicle, but kept on driving, striking the officer and “subsequently dragging him as he fled the scene,” an ICE spokesman told NBC 5 Chicago. “Fearing for his life,” the agent shot the driver.

Despite withstanding several injuries, the ICE agent was in stable condition after being dragged “a significant distance,” said Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. The ICE officer and Villegas-Gonzalez were taken to a hospital before the suspect was pronounced dead.

Operation Midway Blitz” started last week, swarming the Windy City, by order of President Donald Trump, with federal officers to “target the criminal illegal aliens who flocked to Chicago and Illinois because they knew Governor Pritzker and his sanctuary policies would protect them and allow them to roam free on American streets.”

But anti-ICE activists responded by taking it to the streets of Chicago; Federal agents removed by force some of the protesters who staged a recent sit-in at an ICE facility on Friday, ABC 7 Chicago reported.

Former assistant ICE chief for New York Scott Mechkowski told The Daily Wire that Villegas-Gonzalez should’ve been deported more than a decade ago.
