Catholics for Catholics is joining the White House’s Office of Faith in a prayer campaign, as both entities look forward to the 250 Anniversary Celebration of the founding of the United States in 2026.
“It was an honor to be with President Trump this morning as he announced a national campaign of prayer for America,” said Catholics for Catholics President John C. Yep. “It was even more humbling when the White House asked Catholics for Catholics to officially partner with them in their efforts to ramp up prayers in the lead up to the 250th Anniversary celebration of this Country.”
Yep attended President Donald Trump’s visit to the Museum of the Bible on Monday. There, Trump announced the joint effort and commemoration.

“Next year, we will celebrate 250 years since that Declaration was signed. As part of the grand commemoration… we’ve invited America’s great faith communities to pray for our nation, for our people, and for peace in the world,” Trump said.
Yep added: “What better way for Catholics for Catholics to serve America then by leading them to the fullness of prayer which is found in our Catholic Faith. We have the Eucharist and the Sacraments; there are no greater gifts.
“The new White House campaign for prayer, along with our Catholic complement to it, the “Catholic Prayer for America” was fittingly launched on Our Lady’s Birthday,” Yep said. “To her we entrust this next year of preparation, asking for her intercession to be once again one nation under God!”

On Monday, Trump also vowed to fight against anti-Christian hate in the country, mentioning to the crowd at Washington D.C.’s Museum of the Bible the horrific attack perpetrated by a man who identified himself as a woman against school children, who were attending Holy Mass on their first day back to school in Minneapolis. The gunman killed two children and wounded 21 others before committing suicide.
“Can you believe that? Hard to believe. And time goes by and people say, ‘oh, I sort of remembered,’ but I remembered. I’ll always remember,” Trump said. “What a horrible thing, Our hearts are shattered for the families of those beautiful children.”
“And we’re not going to allow that. In recent years, we’ve seen far too many violent attacks perpetrated against Americans of faith, beautiful Americans of faith, including in our schools and places of worship,” Trump said.
Trump said Attorney General Pam Bondi and her team are working hard to get to the bottom of cases like the Minneapolis shooting. He added that his administration will come down hard on the perpetrators.
“The Trump administration will have no tolerance for terrorism or political violence, and that includes hate crimes against Christians, Jews, or anybody else. We’re not going to allow it,” Trump said.
