In a sign that things are becoming much warmer between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the White House will welcome the Ukrainian leader for a working lunch on Friday.

The Presidents are scheduled to discuss how they can compel Russian President Vladimir Putin to take part in peace negotiations. Ukraine and Russia have been at war since February 2022 when Putin’s unprovoked military forces invaded Ukraine, according to Newsmax.

Zelenskyy’s visit to the White House will be his third since Trump took office in January. Trump and Zelenskyy seemed to have buried the hatchet after having a fiery word-fracas between them on Feb. 28, which ended with the Ukrainian President being told to leave the White House during a televised meeting.

Since the war of words in February, Trump got together with Putin in Alaska and has grown more and more exasperated with the Russian president’s negation to end the war in Ukraine.

During the weekend, Trump and Zelenskyy hashed out the possibility of NATO allies purchasing U.S.-made long-range Tomahawk missiles for Kyiv and how to bring an end to the war.

“We also discussed many details related to the energy sector. President Trump is well informed about everything that is happening,” Zelenskyy said on X. “We agreed to continue our dialogue, and our teams are doing their preparations.”

On Sunday, Trump cautioned Russia that he may send Ukraine long-range missiles if Putin doesn’t put an end to the war soon.

“I might say, Look: If this war is not going to get settled, I’m going to send them Tomahawks,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he flew to Israel. “The Tomahawk is an incredible weapon, a very offensive weapon. And honestly, Russia does not need that.”
