Also, 80 missing children were rescued, said U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi. Last month, the federal government announced it would send National Guard troops and federal agents to the Tennessee city.

Weary of crime, the residents of Memphis, Tennessee have welcomed the federal efforts to cut down on crime, according to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.
She said the efforts have paid off, especially during the month of October, when local and federal authorities rescued about 80 missing children and arrested 1,700 people, including 126 violent gang members, Bondi said, according to The Epoch Times.
“With 1700 arrests—including 126 gang members—in just one month, our Memphis surge is proving that it’s possible to make American cities safe again,” Bondi said.
In an X post that contained a statement about the results, Bondi said that 293 firearms were confiscated in the operation. About seven dozen at-risk missing children were also located, she said.
The Trump administration’s law enforcement “surge into Memphis has put gang members behind bars, rescued dozens of children, and proven that collaboration between federal and local law enforcement can quickly make American cities safe again,” she said.
Since the start of the Memphis Safe Task Force, Federal law enforcement officers and agents have made 1700 arrests. This includes 126 known gang members arrested, 10 homicide arrests, 179 narcotics arrests, and 154 firearms arrests. #USMarshals #MemphisSafeTaskForce pic.twitter.com/RwouaqUFVR

In September, President Donald Trump sent the National Guard to Memphis. While signing the order, Trump told reporters at the Oval Office that the troops would work together with a special task force in the city made up of officials from various federal agencies, including the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
The federal and local task force’s goal is simple: stamp out crime, Trump said. The aim is the same as it was in Washington when the National Guard was sent there and the city’s local police force was federalized; Other cities like Los Angeles and Chicago have also seen National Guard deployments this year.
“This task force will be a replica of our extraordinarily successful efforts here,” Trump said of the District of Columbia in remarks last month. “And you’ll see it’s a lot of the same thing, although the numbers here are really something, they’re really bad.”
