President Donald Trump said Wednesday he may travel to the Middle East on Sunday for peace talks that may put an end once and for all to the Israel-Hamas war, as well as secure the return of the hostages.
During a roundtable meeting on Wednesday, the president announced that a deal had been reached between Hamas and Israel. Both sides had agreed to a draft formulated by the U.S.
However, the final peace talks are still ongoing. Trump said he may go to the Middle East to handle the armistice in person and seal the deal that puts an end to the bloody conflict.
“It’s very close, and they’re doing very well. We have a great team over there, great negotiators, and they’re … great negotiators on the other side also, but it’s something I think that will happen, got a good chance of happening,” Trump said.
“I may go there sometime toward the end of the week, maybe on Sunday, actually, and we’ll see, but there’s a very good chance … negotiations are going along very well.”
Trump added that several players are at hand in the discussions, including Hamas and “all of” the Muslim and Arab nations.

“Our final negotiation, as you know, is with Hamas, and it seems to be going well,” he said. “We’ll be leaving, probably on Sunday, maybe Saturday, maybe a little later than Saturday evening, but that seems to be our schedule.”
The plan includes the return of all hostages—both living and dead—a complete stop to the Israeli attacks on Qatar, an immediate cease-fire, an increase in humanitarian aid into Gaza, large-scale reconstruction, and a new dialogue between Palestinians and Israel for “peaceful coexistence.”
On Sept. 29, Trump hosted Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, where the Israeli Prime Minister agreed to the U.S.-proposed Gaza peace plan. On Oct. 8, Hamas said it had exchanged with Israel lists of Palestinian and Israeli hostages to be released under a swap deal.
