For years, Nicki Minaj has been a legend in pop culture and the rap world with explicit songs that do not necessarily promote Christian values.
However, unexpectedly, the popular rapper is taking her voice and using it for a new cause: to help stop the slaying of Christians in Nigeria.
On Tuesday, Minaj joined the Trump administration and spoke to the United Nations alongside United States Ambassador to the U.N., Mike Waltz. The team discussed ways to stop the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, where according to the International Society of Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, 7,000 Christians have been killed in 2025 alone.

According to the Daily Wire, Minaj thanked President Donald Trump for “his leadership on the global stage,” delivering a five-minute speech speaking about the debacle in Nigeria, a country she said has “deep faith traditions and lots of beautiful Barbz I can’t wait to see.”
“Religious freedom means we all can sing our faith, regardless of who we are, where we live, and what we believe,” Minaj said. “But today, faith is under attack in way too many places. In Nigeria, Christians are being targeted, driven from their homes, and killed.” She added that the persecution of Christians is a problem in not only Nigeria, but “so many other countries across the world.”
In a social media post on X, Minaj had thanked the Trump administration “for taking this seriously,” adding, “God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God.

No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.

On Sunday, Ambassador Waltz praised Minaj, posting on X, “[Minaj] is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.”
“I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria,” Waltz posted. “And I look forward to standing with her as we discuss the steps the President and his administration are taking to end the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters.”
On Halloween, Trump said the State Department would add Nigeria to its list of “Countries of Particular Concern.”
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed,” Trump said. “Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN’ — But that is the least of it. When Christians, or any such group, is slaughtered like is happening in Nigeria (3,100 versus 4,476 Worldwide), something must be done!”
