If they want war, they got it.
A bellicose-talking Vladimir Putin, Russia’s President and strongman said on Tuesday that his country did not wish for a war with Europe, but that his nation was ready for a scrap right now.
The reason for such tough talk? Putin said that the European nations were making stipulations on a possible peace settlement for Ukraine that Moscow considers absolutely intolerable, according to Newsmax.
In addition, the Russian leader accused the European allies of Ukraine Tuesday of sabotaging U.S.-led efforts to terminate the war that have gained momentum in recent weeks.
“They don’t have a peace agenda, they’re on the side of the war,” Putin said after speaking to an investment forum and before he held talks with a U.S. delegation led by special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner at the Kremlin.
Putin accused Europe of modifying peace proposals with “demands that are absolutely unacceptable to Russia,” thus “blocking the entire peace process,” only to fault Russia for it.
“That’s their goal,” Putin said.

Putin’s comments kept the narrative that Russia pushed forward after Trump returned to the White House this year and started talks with Moscow, painting Europe’s resolute support of Ukraine as one of the main obstacles on the path to peace.
But after months of exasperation in his attempts to put an end to the war, Trump is sending officials to get traction for his peace deals. Kushner will join the meeting between Putin and Witkoff, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. He added that the talks would take “as long as needed” and will solely include Witkoff, Kushner, and an interpreter from the U.S. side.
So far, the talks have followed parallel lines, with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sitting down with Ukrainian officials, and now Witkoff and Kushner in Moscow.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he met Tuesday with the Ukrainian delegation that came back from the negotiations with U.S. representatives in Florida. Rubio said those talks made progress, but added that “there’s more work to be done.”
