Rachel Maddow Says She Has Returned to Catholicism, Credits Popes Francis’ & Leo XIV’s Stances on Immigration

According to Catholic Substack “Letters from Leo,” MS Now (formerly MSNBC) anchor Rachel Maddow announced that she has returned to the Catholic faith.

At a live Q&A event in Chicago, where Pope Leo XIV hails from, Maddow responded to a question regarding the Holy Father and immigration, saying, “I was born and raised in a conservative Catholic family… after having not considered myself [Catholic] for some time, I do consider myself to be back in the faith.”

Maddow, who openly lives a homosexual life with another woman, indicated that the passing of the very pro-migrant pope (Francis) followed by the election of Cardinal Prevost, who has been critical of the current administration’s immigration policies, seemed to her to be divinely-inspired. The timing of the papal succession was “like it was just grown in a lab to radicalize American Catholics” against supposed cruelty towards migrants. Maddow said she was recently inspired by a Mass that took place outside of an ICE facility in Illinois in protest of the crackdown on illegal immigration.

Ironically, mainstream media pundits like Maddow seem to have very little – if anything – to say about the cruelty inflicted on vulnerable migrants, particularly children, by lax immigration policies.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that Scripture “presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity” and “tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered’” and “contrary to the natural law.” Further, homosexual acts “close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.”

While the Catholic Church calls us to compassion in stating that men and women with same-sex attraction themselves “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity,” the Catechism is clear that homosexuals are “called to chastity” and “to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.”

We pray that Maddow, in wanting to return to the Catholic faith, embraces full communion with the Church and chooses to reject a homosexual lifestyle.
