The woes to a famous conservative think tank keep piling up.
Two members of The Heritage Foundation’s Board of Trustees have resigned in the midst of a mounting debacle over the think tank’s handling of antisemitism accusations, and its president’s defense of a contentious interview between Tucker Carlson with Nick Fuentes.

There has been speculation that @Heritage is distancing itself from @TuckerCarlson over the past 24 hours.

According to a Newsmax story, the partings of Moffat and McCullar are the latest in a string of high-profile exoduses that have thrown the once prominent conservative institution into an upheaval, and prompted questions about its leadership under Kevin Roberts, Heritage’s president.
The resignations of McCullar and Moffat came after a series of exits linked to Heritage’s handling of a controversial interview between Carlson and Fuentes — a young, self-described white nationalist known for his criticism against Israel and his anti-zionist views.
During the fall, Carlson did what some considered a “softball” interview with Fuentes, which drew pervasive criticism from across the political gamut. The critics contended that Carlson did not amply challenge Fuentes’ “extremist” views and that providing such a platform risked normalizing hate.
Initially, Roberts issued a video defending freedom of speech and showed his disagreement with those who condemned Carlson. His critics said that he should have condemned Fuentes’ extremism or Carlson’s platforming of such alleged hate.

In his resignation statement, McCullar said he had initially agreed to help advance “the ideals of America’s Founding” but could no longer reconcile his principles with the foundation’s actions. He added that “no institution that hesitates to condemn antisemitism and hatred — or that gives a platform to those who spread them — can credibly claim to uphold the vision that once made the Heritage Foundation the world’s most respected conservative think tank.”
A board member of Heritage since 1992, Moffat is considered one of the leading conservative philanthropists in the nation and serves as chief executive officer of the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation.
Records show in 2023 the Spencer Foundation contributed $25 million to Heritage.
