The ADL’s strategy, Greenblatt says, is to provide data, information, and tools “behind-the-scenes” to help the right defeat anti-semitism on the right and the left defeat anti-semitism on the left.

The Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL’s) CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, recently made alarming statements indicating that he is working with Senator Ted Cruz, Ben Shapiro, and federal intelligence agencies and law enforcement to monitor and suppress speech on social media.
On January 15, Greenblatt was hosted for an event at the Sinai Temple in Los Angeles. The event page explained that Greenblatt would be joining Rabbi Wolpe to “discuss the golden age of American Jewry—how we got here and whether it’s coming to an end.” Together, they would explore what comes next for Jewish life in America, according to the description.
While a recording of the event was initially posted by the Sinai Temple, particular clips started going viral and the video was made private. The X account InfoLibNews captured a series of clips before this happened. In one of the clips, Greenblatt tells the audience the ADL is actively monitoring citizens’ speech and sharing information with the federal government:
“So, number one, we measure and track; number two, we monitor and disrupt. We have a whole apparatus. I have 40 analysts working full-time, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, monitoring extremists. We monitor them online, social media, messaging apps, video games, cryptocurrency, podcasts, short-form video, Wikipedia, LLMs.”
The groups monitored by the ADL include left-wing radicals like the DSA (Democratic Socialists of America), the “anti-war crazies” and the “pro-Palestine crazies,” in addition to extremists on the right, to include white supremacists, and armed militia groups. Greenblatt said they are also monitoring “political Islamists” and “Christian nationalists.”
The ADL has a page dedicated to “debunking” the “myth” that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus and specifies the gospel of Matthew as a “patently false” narrative.

Greenblatt described social media as a “super-spreader of hate” and named the podcasters Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens as “disgusting.” According to Greenblatt, the “good people” are Senator Ted Cruz, Speaker Mike Johnson, Ben Shapiro, and Mark Levin who are “pushing back on these revolting lunatics.” He also named Hasan Piker as one of the revolting voices of the left.
Greenblatt explained that the ADL is trying to get social media companies to enforce their own terms of service “so we can pull down the most offensive hate speech.” In that regard, Greenblatt said, “I need people on the right to take down Tucker Carlson—so I’m trying to help Ted Cruz. I need people on the right to take down Nick Fuentes—so I’m trying to help people like Ben [Shapiro].”
Greenblatt mentioned that the ADL provides training to 20,000 law enforcement officers every year. An account belonging to Voice of Rabbis, which has more than 290,000 followers, responded to a clip of Greenblatt with contempt.
