By continuing the litigation, future cuts to abortion would likely have been held from being enforced.

According to a Politico report, last month the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “quietly released” Title X funds that had been withheld from Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion clinics. As a result, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) dropped its lawsuit against the Trump administration Monday.
Many of the clinics had been saving receipts for services provided to low-income patients which will now be submitted to the federal government for reimbursement.
The tens of millions of dollars that are being restored do not directly fund abortion due to the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding of abortion, but it does subsidize organizations and clinics that perform abortions.
When asked about this report on Wednesday, both President Trump and Health Secretary RFK Jr. denied knowledge of the funds being restored.

John Yep, president of Catholics for Catholics immediately expressed his concerns stating, “While it’s plausible to think that President Trump may not have been informed about the decision of his administration to restore funds to Planned Parenthood, ignorance is no longer an excuse.
Planned Parenthood currently ranks as one of the most evil organizations in America (and the world) through its facilitation of the killing of thousands of babies through abortion and its deliberate participation in the demonic ‘gender affirming therapy’ for children.”
Yep continued, “While Trump’s HHS may have quietly reimbursed Planned Parenthood, the millions of pro-lifers who helped get President Trump elected will not be be quiet.
We implore President Trump to look into this matter immediately! A country is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable, and these vulnerable babies in the womb must be held up as the preeminent issue for every politician.”
The timing of this is surprising, given that the nation’s annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. is next Friday, January 23, but some pro-lifers are saying this was a strategic move in the long-game legal battle against the abortion industry: since the part of federal law that covers family planning grants (42 U.S. Code Part 300) was not amended before funding was withheld, some legal experts say the HHS was sure to lose the lawsuit, according to the Daily Signal.
If the Trump administration restores the Protect Life rule, which he enacted during his first term but was rescinded by President Biden, it will legally prevent clinics from receiving Title X funds if they provide abortion referrals.
