The State Department released a statement further detailing the withdrawal from these international organizations described as “wasteful, ineffective, or harmful.”
“The Trump Administration has found these institutions to be redundant in their scope, mismanaged, unnecessary, wasteful, poorly run, captured by the interests of actors advancing their own agendas contrary to our own, or a threat to our nation’s sovereignty, freedoms, and general prosperity,” writes Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“President Trump is clear: It is no longer acceptable to be sending these institutions the blood, sweat, and treasure of the American people, with little to nothing to show for it. The days of billions of dollars in taxpayer money flowing to foreign interests at the expense of our people are over.”
The list of organizations that the United States is withdrawing from includes groups like:
and more, as well as many United Nations projects and commissions.
On X, Secretary Marco Rubio pledged “we will stop subsidizing globalist bureaucrats who act against our interests” and said the review of additional organizations is ongoing.
