Brandon J. Weichert, a former congressional staffer and geopolitical analyst, joined Steve Bannon’s “War Room” last week and broke down why he believes the United States will attempt to force a regime change in Iran very soon.
Weichert told Bannon that Trump is being given “really awful advice.” Military assets have been put into place to carry out a strike on Iran, and unlike the strikes of June 2025 which specifically targeted nuclear sites, the effort this time would be directed at regime change. Weichert told Bannon that the New York Times is also reporting that Maduro-style commando raids are being planned.
Because the Iranian people have already been protesting the regime, Weichert says he thinks they will have a “use-it-or-lose-it mentality” with their arsenal and move to strike Tel Aviv dramatically. “They are going to slam Israel for days,” he said.
Weichert said he saw pictures of the Iranian strikes on Tel Aviv from last summer that were not allowed to be published online and that the damage was massive – much more than the public was let on to. It is only because President Trump stepped in that the damage was limited; now, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “owes him big.”
BRANDON J. WEICHERT: President Trump is being given really awful advice, and I think in the next week we'll be dropping bombs on Iran.

What that means is that this time we won't just be targeting limited nuclear sites; we'll be targeting the regime as a whole.@WeTheBrandon pic.twitter.com/pcgD2mja7B
“In my opinion, had the Iranians continued with the operational tempo they were doing with their size of missile arsenal, they were probably going to completely annihilate the Israeli economy,” Weichert said. “That would have then forced a political backlash against Netanyahu” resulting in him being kicked out of office or possibly landing in jail, relating to the corruption charges that he was facing before the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack.
Trump’s intervention “broke that fever, and he saved Netanyahu politically,” Weichert said. “Whether that was his intention or not, I don’t know. But it certainly reset the game for another eight to nine months.”
He believes the Strait of Hormuz will be shut down at least temporarily which will in turn “spike the price of oil catastrophically at a time in which the US dollar is at its weakest.” Because the regime is already on the precipice, if the United States intervenes, Iran will do something drastic in response like sealing of the Strait of Hormuz to force a sort of “quasi regime change” here with the mid-terms approaching.
Bannon believes that the Iranian people need to sort out their own regime change since they “brought an Islamic Republic on themselves” and kicked the United States out decades ago. “People have to take their destiny in their own hands. If we do regime change from the top, then all of the sudden, you own it,” Bannon said.
Weichert cautioned that both the Zionist regime in Israel and the Islamic regime in Iran are extreme, like “two bulls circulating each other,” trying to see “who can get the best shot in first.”
According to Weichert, the Israelis think they can survive with American help, but our intervention will result in a “completely broken down Middle East that they have hegemonic control over.” This has been “the Netanyahu plan for decades” which is being implemented and in the final phases, but Weichert thinks it’s going to “blow up in their faces.”
