President Donald Trump allegedly wants fast, authoritative strikes against Iran, but does not want to engage in a full-blown war in the Middle East.
According to Newsmax, analysts and some Trump counselors allegedly told The Wall Street Journal such options might not be realistic, heeding Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s threat that any strike would kick start a long-drawn-out regional conflict with the U.S. and Israel as primary targets.
“The Americans should know if they start a war, this time it will be a regional war,” Khamenei said Sunday.
Still, Trump did not seem impressed by the Iranian leader’s comments. He told reporters Sunday just before going into Mar-a-Lago for the wedding ceremony of Dan Scavino and Erin Elmore, “Of course, he is going to say that.”
“Hopefully, we’ll make a deal,” Trump said. “If we don’t make a deal, then we’ll find out whether or not he was right.”

Ever since American Special Forces extracted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in spectacular fashion, Trump has been buoyed to pressure Iran and Cuba with two distinct “Armada” Naval deployments. Ric Grenell, the envoy has called the moves “muscular diplomacy.”
In the meantime, power player countries in the Middle East are jockeying to arrange much-needed talks between American and Iranian officials in Turkey this week. All are concerned that a strike would destabilize the region, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey are working to broker a meeting that could include Trump special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as both sides signal a willingness to negotiate even while remaining divided over Iran’s nuclear enrichment, ballistic missile program, and support for regional militias.
If diplomacy does not work, Trump has warned of possible strikes, telling reporters Sunday, “We have the biggest, most powerful ships in the world over there.”
