Last month, we announced the first recipient of the Catholic Champion Award at our Catholic Prayer for America Gala in DC, Carrie Prejean Boller. We’ll be announcing the third recipient soon (stay tuned!), but today, we are thrilled to announce that our second recipient of the Catholic Champion Award is Eduardo Verástegui!
Eduardo is receiving this award for his commitment to the protection of children and ending human trafficking in America. With a relatively small budget, Eduardo spent eight years working on the production of the movie Sound of Freedom which became a major box office hit in 2023, and outperformed other blockbuster films released the same year, including installments from the Indiana Jones and Mission Impossible series.
Sound of Freedom, based on a true story, played a critical role in bringing the epidemic of human trafficking to the attention of citizens across the United States and even the entire world.
As our nation has grappled with the fallout and shock of what has been uncovered in the Epstein files, Eduardo’s courage in exposing the human trafficking industry is all the more relevant. Eduardo, who actively worked to support President Trump and win the Hispanic vote for him, has used his position to respectfully call on this Administration to release all of the Epstein files and continues to speak with moral clarity on the issue. He recently stated,
“Protecting children is not a left-wing or right-wing issue.
It is a moral duty.
And anyone who stands in the way of the truth should be asked a simple question: Which side are you on?”
God’s children are not for sale.

I had a long talk with Eduardo yesterday, and as I told him about this award, we both reaffirmed our commitment that God’s children are not for sale and that the Catholic Church must be the leader in protecting children.
And as the cartels continue to wreak havoc in his home country of Mexico, Eduardo is bringing his Catholic faith front and center into the public square. In fact, on March 7, he is leading a massive rosary rally with well-known Catholic priests and other leaders in the heart of cartel violence in Guadalajara. Pray for him and this rally!
