Notorious abortionist Kermit Gosnell has died at age 85 while incarcerated in Pennsylvania. He was convicted in 2013 of killing three babies that were born alive at his clinic that became known as a “house of horrors.” He was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter of a patient of his who died of a drug overdose after underdoing an abortion.
This house of horrors witnessed unspeakable acts of violence.
Former employees testified that Gosnell routinely killed infants born alive, often by severing their spinal cords. He had no problem with performing abortions after the state of Pennsylvania’s 24-week abortion limit. It is estimated he killed hundreds of babies, but records of such killings had been destroyed by Gosnell.
A 2011 grand jury report stated:
“A child of the neighborhood, Gosnell spent almost four decades running this clinic, giving back – so it appeared – to the community in which he continued to live and work. But the truth was something very different, and evident to anyone who stepped inside.”
“The clinic reeked of animal urine, courtesy of the cats that were allowed to roam (and defecate) freely. Furniture and blankets were stained with blood. Instruments were not properly sterilized. Disposable medical supplies were not disposed of; they were reused, over and over again. Medical equipment – such as the defibrillator, the EKG, the pulse oximeter, the blood pressure cuff – was generally broken; even when it worked, it wasn’t used. The emergency exit was padlocked shut. And scattered throughout, in cabinets, in the basement, in a freezer, in jars and bags and plastic jugs, were fetal remains. It was a baby charnel house.“
An investigation into drug trafficking occurring at his office is what led to the dismal discoveries:
“A constant stream of ‘patients’ came through during business hours and, for the proper payment, left with scripts for Oxycontin and other controlled substances, for themselves and their friends. Gosnell didn’t see these ‘patients’; he didn’t even show up at the office during the day. He just left behind blank, pre-signed prescription pads, and had his unskilled, unauthorized workers take care of the rest. The fake prescriptions brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.”
The grand jury report also explains that Gosnell welcomed late-term abortions because “[t]he bigger the baby, the more he charged.” He was described as a “deadly threat to mothers” who were routinely injured or infected by horrid practices. The 281-page document is full of grisly details.

The Susan B. Anthony Foundation (SBA), a national pro-life group, called out the abortion industry and the media in posts written on X: “National Abortion Federation inspected the slaughterhouse in 2009 and denied him membership for the horrors they saw. But they NEVER reported it to authorities — letting him continue another 18 months. More babies died because of their silence. A bipartisan failure, the facility ran unchecked for decades under GOP Gov. Tom Ridge & regulators ignored the massive red flags. Even now, Gov. Josh Shapiro has blocked stronger regulations and born-alive protections. Both parties turned a blind eye to the slaughter.”
They called the “media blackout” of Gosnell’s case “disgraceful.”
The SBA points out that many states still allow late-term abortions, leaving room for further abuse of the system and allowing for atrocities such as the “DC-5” (where remains of five infants were found at an abortion clinic in DC) and what happened at Gosnell’s clinic to continue happening.
