Over a dozen illegal drones repetitively flocked to a US Air Force base that is home to a nuclear bomber fleet, repealing efforts to dismantle them through jamming technology, according to military officials.
Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, which has a restricted airspace, was penetrated by “multiple unauthorized drones” between March 9 and March 15, a base spokesperson said.
The base, which is a 22-acre installation located east of Shreveport, has a fleet of B-52 bombers which can carry out nuclear strikes with “worldwide precision,” according to the Air Force.
“Barksdale Air Force Base detected multiple unauthorized drones operating in our airspace during the week of March 9,” a spokesperson for the Air Force Global Strike Command told The Epoch Times on March 24.
Barksdale Air Force Base is the home of the Air Force Global Strike Command. The base also hosts B-52 Stratofortress bombers assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing and 307th Bomb Wing.
According to The Epoch Times, the drone intrusion happened a week into the U.S. and Israeli military campaign against Iran, known as Operation Epic Fury.

Among other aircraft, B-52s and several U.S. strategic bombers have taken part in the conflict.
The Air Force Global Strike Command did not elaborate on whether the drones disturbed flights in support of Operation Epic Fury, but underscored the gravity of the case.
“Flying a drone over a military installation is not only a safety issue, it is a criminal offense under federal law. We are working closely with federal and local law enforcement agencies to investigate these incursions,” the spokesperson said.
“The security of our installation and the safety of our people are top priorities, and we will continue to vigilantly monitor our airspace.”
