Both have big money behind them and the two have the support of big names in politics, but come May 19 only one is expected to emerge as the victor during Kentucky’s primaries for who will be the next congressman from that state.
President Donald Trump wants Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., out of office and for that reason and more he said he is supporting Ed Gallrein, his primary challenger. But Massie, a Republican who is a veteran of Washington and Kentucky politics has ended up victorious in many political battles and this time he has the support of Sen. Rand Paul, also of Kentucky who is endorsing his fellow incumbent congressman, according to a story by Newsmax.
Still, Paul said he also supports Gallrein, adding that he backs both candidates at the same time.
“I support the president, and I support Thomas Massie,” Paul said last month in a town hall with Massie, MyNews13 reported.
“I think you’ll find a lot of voters who are going to say they support both,” Paul said. “I’m not always with the president either. I have some disagreements, but I support the vast majority of his policies.”

Two weeks ago, Trump traveled to Kentucky to support Gallrein and blast Massie in his own district during a rally.
“He is the worst person,” Trump said during an event in Hebron. “How did he ever end up in Kentucky? His name is Thomas Massie … We call him ‘Rand Paul Jr.’ He votes against everything.”
Still, Paul, who frequently also votes against much of the Trump-backed legislation, said this week that he believes Massie is the “most faithful to the Constitution in the House, the most fiscally conservative.”
Massie is in his seventh term in Kentucky’s fourth congressional district.
