Ahead of his 2022 reelection, Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky was endorsed by then former President Donald Trump as a “Conservative Warrior” and “first-rate Defender of the Constitution.” Trump’s political action committee, Save America, echoed the same: “Thomas fights hard to Protect your Liberties, especially the First and Second Amendments, which are under siege by the Radical Left,” they wrote in a statement. “Strong on the Border and our Military and Vets, Thomas Massie has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
That year, Massie won his primary election in a 75% landslide. In 2024, he increased that percentage to almost 76% of the vote. And in the general election, Massie won handily with 65% in 2022 and 72.1% in 2024. Put simply, Massie is well-liked in Kentucky – and it’s not just due to Trump’s endorsement.
President Trump is referring to Massie as an “ineffective loser,” “pathetic RINO,” “the worst and most unreliable Republican Congressman,” and is demanding Kentuckians to “vote the bum out on Tuesday.”
Even though Massie is not Catholic, he has won the praise of many Catholics for his consistent principles.
He is pro-life and believes that life begins at conception. He introduced the No Funds for Foreign Abortions Act to prevent tax dollars from going to any foreign entity that promotes abortion. In 2025, he co-signed a letter to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) demanding that they reinstate common-sense restrictions on the abortion pill.
Massie is also proudly America First: he has never voted for aid for any foreign government. His most desired reform to Congress would be to require single-issue pieces of legislation, so that important, controversial issues are not grouped into massive spending packages like the One Big Beautiful Bill. Massie believes in patriotism and serving the people of our nation.
He believes marriage is between one man and woman, and he led the charge – against the will of many Republicans this term – to expose the Epstein files. He personally stood by many victims during their testimony and he is demanding the release of the remaining files.
Massie has always been able to withstand his up-and-down relationship with Trump because his constituents back home have clearly been pleased with his consistency since winning his first election in 2012. But this year is different.

Almost $10 million has been spent against Massie this election cycle, and mostly from pro-Israel mega-donors like Miriam Adelson, Paul Singer, and John Paulson. Massie has exposed the way that the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) lobby minds congressmen from both sides of the aisle, and he has also been vocal about the civilian victims of Gaza. He defended Carrie Prejean Boller, a Catholic convert who voiced similar concerns, when she was removed from the White House’s Religious Liberty Commission. Boller was honored with the Catholic Champion Award at this year’s Catholic Prayer for America event hosted by Catholics for Catholics.
Massie was one of the late Charlie Kirk’s “favorite” congressmen, and even though Kirk expressed concerns about undermining party unity, in 2023, he welcomed Massie onto his radio show. Here, he introduced Massie as “One of my favorite members of Congress. He loves the Constitution, he loves liberty. He’s honest and he’s tough, and he’s really gonna go after the intel agencies. It’s Thomas Massie, who’s just terrific.”
John Yep, president of Catholics for Catholics, officially endorsed Massie for the May 19 primary: “PRAYERS FOR @RepThomasMassie ! – A FIGHT FOR AMERICA,” Yep wrote. “The most expensive Congressional race in US History will take place on Tuesday, May 19th. The outcome of this race will have national implications. It’s crucial for every American to understand just what is at stake…Although there are many things we love about Massie, Catholics around the Country are most grateful to @RepThomasMassie for his efforts to stand up for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and against a system that allows the elites to abuse our children.”
Yep continued, “Though not a Catholic, something we pray for everyday, our Savior no doubt would be glad that Massie has lived out the love and defense of children expressed in Christ’s own words.”
