On Christmas Morning Mass, the Church will read: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it!” Jn 1
As St John reminds us, there is darkness in the world. It doesn’t take much effort to see this. Just yesterday, the Vatican released a document approving same-sex couples receiving formal blessings at parishes.
But St. John puts the focus on the LIGHT. It is the LIGHT coming into the cosmos that overpowers the darkness. This light is Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World, born as a humble child in Bethlehem.
We invite you to watch this discussion for a moment of LIGHT.
Bishop Joseph Strickland will be joining us on a livestream moment of conversation and prayer. We will conclude with him bestowing his episcopal blessing upon us and our families on the eve of Christmas.
It’s easy sometimes to try to ignore the darkness and pretend that all is well. We don’t ignore it. We face it armed with the light, embracing the battles God has called us to wage. So let’s get spiritually armed!
God Bless and Fight On!
